Being involved in your child’s education is obviously a good thing. But, some may wonder if ever there can be too much of a good thing. Can parents be too involved with their child’s education? While this, like anything else, should not be taken to the extreme, parental involvement in a child’s education is generally considered a good thing.

Research has shown that parents who are involved actively in their child’s education perform better when it comes to reading and math. Along with getting higher grades, parents’ involvement also leads to increased motivation in their children and better family lives. This being said, parents don’t have to run for an office at the PTO or the school board. A few hours of quality time spent with your child to help with his Homework or doing an after school activity together makes a big difference. Below are a few points that parents who are or want to get involved with their child’s education will find helpful.

PTO

Being involved through the PTO opportunities in your child’s school can keep pertinent issues within closer reach. PTO organizations help parents be a part of what takes place at school, as well as keeps them informed of recent issues and developments. There will be meetings and events to not only discuss the issues, but also to have fun with the children while they learn. Many PTOs host events such as family math nights.

Will the Kids Be Annoyed at Parental Involvement?

Some kids may become annoyed if parental involvement in education is at a high level. I think this may be more common with high school students than students in middle or elementary schools. Many kids enjoy parental involvement and it gives a boost of confidence to them to see how much their parents care.

Educational Conflicts

Because methods used to solve math concepts can differ from what parents were used to as kids, it can sometimes be difficult to help kids with math. However, this should not stop parents from helping their children and being involved. There are ways to get around this, such as online tutoring help where parents and students can spend 45min-1 hour together with the tutor by putting him on speakers. The parents can observe the child learn this way. Then, when it comes time to help later on, they will know how.

Benefits of Being Involved in a Child’s Education

When parents are involved with their child’s education, there come many benefits to both the child, as well as the parent. Children who have involved parents will likely have a better chance at succeeding than those whose parents are not aware of what is going on or whether their child is struggling. An aware parent can provide help to the child wherever it is needed. Ways to help your child with his math problems.

This type of involvement in a child’s education can lead to better grades, as it is much harder for a child’s difficulty with concepts to slip under the radar. Also, involved parents can observe their children’s interests and use those to make learning time a fun time, rather than a chore. Technology can also be used in a constructive way to help your child.

Homeschooling

Homeschooling is a great example of how parental involvement gives a boost to a child’s morale. I have been to various homeschooling conventions and my observation has been that homeschooling children are more open with what they are studying and have a higher level of confidence than other students who always shy away from even talking about the M (ath) word. Could this have something to do with the involvement of their parents? I would assume so. With this method, parents can be fully aware of what is going on with their child’s education, as they are the ones doing the teaching and planning.

Education as we all know is the basic right of every child and all children should be imparted with at least elementary education so that there all-round development is not hampered. This though was soon understood by most of the parents and they realized the importance of studies in the life of their children. Today most of the parents are completely aware of education importance and they do everything to provide best education to their child. With the parents becoming more and more aware, the quality of education is also increasing day by day. In the process of improving the education quality, the education has taken many forms over the years.

Earlier education was imparted in home only, where private tutors were hired to teach the children, later the children were sent to school and colleges to gain knowledge, then the time of correspondence study came, where the study material and assignments were sent to the students through mail and latest in the field of Education is online learning education, which has completely revolutionized the educational field. Today online learning education is considered as the most effective and suitable means of education in remote areas where class room learning is difficult to organize. Online learning education is a process of teaching, where a teacher teaches to the student, while they are not physically present at a common venue.

As we all know learning is a continuous process and online learning is the perfect medium which provide right platform for everybody to fulfill one desire of learning through the various stages of life. Online learning education also provides the same opportunity as standard colleges and institutions and even the objective of learning is same i.e. to gain knowledge. The only difference between the formal teaching process and online learning education is the medium through which they are imparted. Online learning education provides one with convenience and flexibility where one can choose the time and place of receiving education as per one convenience.

Online learning education is not everyone piece of cake and it requires sheer commitment and dedication from students in order to attain its objective. To effectively benefit from an online learning education one has to be disciplined, motivated and organized in his approach and learning process. There is not a regular teacher involved in this process to keep an eye on the students so the students themselves should be responsible enough to finish their task timely. Education that one receives through online learning is affordable, convenient and commendable and it also provides opportunity to explore the knowledge to the fullest.

Each and every country maintains an army that consists of courageous individuals ready to defend the country and preserve the way of life. However, a career in the army leaves these army personnel little or no opportunity to pursue higher education for the betterment of their future, once they retire from the army. Some army training institutes may include some kind of formal education for these individuals, but it is not a norm. Online education thus comes in handy for army personnel, as they can obtain a degree at their convenience.

Online education has made it possible for everyone to obtain an education at their convenience. It has opened up a new world of equal opportunities for all individuals to pursue their learning interests. It has helped those individuals who did not have the opportunity to obtain a university degree, to attain the same level of education as that of anyone attending university courses. Online studies have made education accessible to all, and that includes army personnel as well. It has provided an opening for the military personnel who want to advance their educational qualifications but cannot find the time for it while performing their vital duties of serving the nation.

Most of the online schools and colleges accept applications from army personnel and some of them may have reservation policy for seats for any course they might like to select. Online education is perfect for the army because they can study at their convenience while performing their military duty. The army encourages its personnel to pursue degrees so that they can be prepared for their future civilian life and also apply their skills to resolve various situations they may have to face, during their military career.

Big News Coming in the New Year will be a new product release by the creators of the Blueprint Series, Steven Clayton and Tim Godfrey. Many marketers are already aware of the fabulous Commission Blueprint 2.0 that came on in September and many are making money using this system

Another great new product by these guys called Niche Blueprint 2.0 is coming out to help all of us marketers who are doing or want to do ecommerce storefronts. Let me ask you will you be there for the release, I already have my sport inline and I recommend that you do as well. Happy New Year 2010 everyone!

Since the increasing popularity of online education was observed among army personnel,
the military has set up its own online educational institution known as the American Military University or AMU. AMU offers a wide range of courses for army personnel and it has become very popular since its inception. The courses offered at AMU include space research, general studies, English Literature and many other subjects. There is something to suit everyone, from associate degree to the Master’s degree in every subject.

The flexible fee structure at AMU allows many recruits to pay for the course out of their salary. The fees are affordable and the arrangement is to pay as you learn, so most of the recruits simply pay for each semester rather than paying for the full course all at once. This way they are not financially burdened and can study at their own pace.

Online education has revolutionized the manner in which army personnel can benefit from education by preparing them for a post military career. The education levels give them specialized skill sets that they can use to further their overall earning potentials after their retirement from the army. They have every right to a formal Education and they should be given every opportunity to pursue it.

I am highly considering majoring in Special Education. Right now it’s a toss up between Special Education and Business Education. I’m trying to evaluate the pros and cons of each.

My question is, how much time, approximately, does a special education teacher spend outside of the classroom preparing for the lessons for the coming days? Is it as much as a normal teacher, or more? More than an English teacher for example?

What type of work load can be expected outside of the classroom?
I know that IEDs drive people crazy, but I don’t mind that kind of paperwork.

All teachers spend a lot of time outside of school preparing. I do a minimum of 3 hours per day after school each day (except Friday) and one day of the weekend. I don’t know that I would spend more or less time if I was a Special Ed teacher – teaching requires extra time.

Education is an important and necessary medium, which imparts knowledge and skill, so that everyone can have a secured and stable future. There is no doubt that education is the spine of a civilized society, but with increasing commercialization and in an effort to provide the best, pursuing education has become an expensive affair. What about those who want to pursue higher studies but do not have the Finances to cover the expenses? In a major change of stance and to assist students and their parents alike, lenders have come up with education loans. These loans take cares of all the expenses pertaining to education on behalf of the students and that too at fairly easy terms and conditions.

Education loans are easy to access and are widely available in the loan market. Through these loans, one can actually derive the funds to pay admission fees, examination fees, hostel dues, library charges, purchasing books, equipments and computers along with personal expenses. Further, these loans are open to all and can be derived by students with both good credit as well as bad credit.

The best loan deals are offered by government agencies. The federal government approves these loans in the form of Stafford and Perkins. It offers one of the best interests and has flexible repayment schedule. On the other hand, loans are also offered by private lenders. These loans are categorized in to secured and unsecured form. Secured form of the loans offers a bigger amount but can be availed only by pledging collateral. On the other hand, unsecured form of the loans is absolutely collateral free. However, the interest rate charged is relatively high.

Students with bad credit can also source these loans, but they have to produce a cosigner with a good credit score.

The main criteria to derive education loans are that students should be above 18 years and that they must have access to a valid bank account. Prior to the availing of the loans, one should make an assessment of the total expenses before hand. This way, the students can derive the exact amount and it comes in handy at the time of repayment.

With education loans, students can now focus on their studies without worrying anymore about the financial constraints.

I know that elementary education is for at least grades K-5 and secondary education is grades 9-12. I am interested in teaching middle school so what category would that fall into? Would that be elementary education or secondary education. Also if you know any schools in the East please tell me. Thanks a lot!

I am an Intermediate-Senior Education student. That means I am qualified to teach grades 7-12 in Ontario. Junior-Intermediate students would teach elementary grade students (up until grade 8, I don’t know what the years start at, though).
I am pretty sure middle school is elementary, meaning any kids in grade 1-8.

In order to teach students at that level, you generally need to take a test that proves you are an efficient teacher in every subject (enough to get by) including math, music or art, history, english, science, geography and so forth. At my level, teaching high school students, I only need to be qualified in TWO subjects, my "teachables" – which are English and History for me. As a high school teacher, you would teach one subject or a few specialized subjects, but as an elementary teacher you need to dabble in every subject unless you find a school that changes teachers for every subject.

Education is a basic right of every child as it is the prime factor responsible for the overall development of the child. But this right is often violated in different countries due to the social evil of mass illiteracy. To fight from the illiteracy several social service organizations support government concentrating only in the field of education to eliminate illiteracy from the country. Apart from them, education sponsoring societies also play a crucial role in the collection and disbursement of valuable funds. In order to remove illiteracy from the society it is the duty of every citizen to come and contribute in this noble cause and at least sponsor education of a single child to encourage them to avail the basic right of education.

Usually the children are deprived of this basic right due to poverty and lack of resources. For majority of parents, the aim is to provide their child with only Food and shelter. Education is something that they didn’t even think of. In order to motivate these parents to send their children to school, they need to be properly convinced as well as monetary supported. Therefore social service organization provides finances and other resources to these sections of people so they agree to send their children to school. To find sponsors for these children and collect funds for financing education for the underprivileged children, special societies are set up, which are generally affiliated to an NGO or work independently.

Societies set up for sponsoring education work solely for the cause of securing funds from various means and grouping them together. From the collected fund these societies then sponsors education of various children. Funds are collected from various sources such as corporate houses, individual donors and several other source that are willing to help children and sponsor their education. Several branches of these societies are spread across the world so that they can smoothly work for the betterment of children of each region. In education sponsorship, the tuition fee is not only sponsor but the books and other study material is also sponsored. Sponsorships for every academic courses are provided, which encourage the child to take the field of their choice.

Societies not only sponsor education for children but it also perform several other functions such as establishing educational institutions, extending educational facilities to remote areas of the region, and also upgrade these institutions for the betterment of children of different areas. Educational programs carried out by these societies are regularly improvised so that the best from the education field is offered to the children. Like as per the current trend computer education is also incorporated with the education programs so that children are able to receive computer education along with the conventional education. This will further help in the overall development of the children.

CRM in Higher Education

CRM in Higher Education

“Today, more than ever before in human history, wealth of nations depends on quality of higher education.”

Higher education, today, is undergoing a more radical transformation than perhaps any other aspect of our culture. Educational institutions world-wide are undergoing fundamental shifts in how they operate and interact with their “customers”: students, alumni, faculty members, and staff members. The quality of knowledge generated with higher educational institutions and its availability to wider economy is becoming increasingly critical to national competitiveness. New technology-based tools for gathering and disseminating knowledge have become central element of today’s education. Technological, economic, sociological, and governmental forces are altering education dramatically, impacting its institutions, teachers, students, funding sources, and basic function in society. To unlock potential and helping talented people to gain advanced training, whatever their background, requires customer-centric approach to education.

So, institutions need strategies that make them more receptive and responsive to their core constituencies – their students. Students increasingly see themselves as customers who purchase education services form competing providers. Kotler & Fox (1995) state, “The best organization in the world will be ineffective if the focus on ‘customers’ is lost. First and foremost is treatment of individual students, alumni, parents, friends, and each other (internal customers). Every contact counts!”

During the mid-1980s and late 1990s, over-crowded classes, inadequate library and laboratory facilities, and little student’s services have been the norms in most of the institutions. Rarely has an institution responded by creating remedial program for inadequately prepared students. But now colleges and universities have initiated re-structuring and re-engineering their operating processes to cut costs and become more efficient while responding to increased competition. Higher education customers are demanding more attention and immediate service. Proactive institutes are now adjusting their practices by refocusing their efforts externally. Because of the need to concentrate more on customers, many institutions are tuning to customer relationship management.

CRM is important because of the changes occurring in the competitive environment. Globalization and the Internet mean that competition can now come as easily from around the world as from around the corner. Power and choice are moving to the customer as never before, and leading to the commoditization of products and services in most situations.

In today’s scenario, most of the institutions want to compete with others. To compete with other institutions, some institutions are getting autonomous status, some of them are trying to get ISO Certification, others are looking for accreditation status, deemed university status, and some others are tied-up with multi-national companies (MNCs), and so on. The institutions, which are not ready to compete, will surely become as “Void and Vanish”.

It is essential that academic institutions have to concentrate about some strategies, techniques, or methods by which they can become “Brand Building”. And one such strategy is CRM. CRM strategy for an academic institution should lead to employment rather than merely giving education. At present, academic institutions are eager to maintain a long-term relationship with the students rather than a relation which is related only to their course duration.

Customer relationship management is all about satisfying and retaining the customer by providing the perquisites he/she desires for. The relations that are maintained are a kind of trust that the institutions provide to its customers (students) and fulfill them. Educational institutions are also among those profit-making institutions which are attaining the path of CRM. Academic institutions are themselves not different from any other organizations. They are themselves profit-making firms who impart education for money and try to grow as any other organization. Whether they are government-owned or self-financed private institutions; almost all educational institutions are profit-making organizations. Such organizations focus on CRM not only to impart state-of-the-art education to their students, but also have to maintain relations with their working staff, administrators, companies, vendors and with their primary customers – students. CRM plays an increasingly important role in maintaining such relationships in these organizations.

Why Implement a CRM Business Strategy in Higher Education

Because higher education is far enough behind the commercial sector to gain from the CRM and assume customer-centric approaches. Teaching departments and offices work as separate entities in many colleges and universities today. Faced with divisional boundaries, it is often very difficult for these different institutional functions to focus on their customers in a coordinated fashion. By providing a common platform for customer communication and interaction, CRM applications are designed to increase the effectiveness of staff members who interact with customers or prospects.

Emerging CRM processes and technologies are going to drive the growth of new types of resources and services. Within the higher education enterprises, much of this new functionality is focused in the students’ area. The exciting new level of student-related functionality and performance is having an impact on students as well as on the administrative staff and management, companies, the faculty, media, and the institution as a whole.

A look at each of these areas: -

Students – Today’s system has little to offer students, particularly the new breed of technology-savvy students who want to be more in control of their learning environment. Today’s students demand a higher level of access to information about their options, their performance, and their future. They also demand the technology resources to be an integral part of their learning experience. The standard for access to faculty and student services will change as students come to expect virtual access to faculty and student services resources. The old ways of interacting with students will become untenable – like expecting them to line-up for hours when instead they can choose an institution that can meet their needs on their own terms, on their schedule, with virtual support system.

Companies – Companies come to educational institutions for recruiting their students in campus selection procedures. They are so amongst the most important clients of such education organizations. Keeping continuous and direct contacts with these companies will enable institutes to maintain good and healthy relationships and improve contacts and service to them.

Administrators – A CRM business strategy for a college or university administrative system would also introduce a true self-service system that empowers the administrative team to rethink the investment to administrative resources in institutional services.

Faculty Members – Today’s system provides little value for faculty members. In the new learning environment, faculty and student services are closely linked, dynamically sharing resources and strategies to enable student learning. Imagine a process whereby a faculty member can make immediate student referrals to key support programs on campus-even when working at Home.

The Institution - CRM delivers a new conceptual and structural framework for directing institutional activities to attract and retain its various customers. Most import is the ability of a truly robust set of institutional processes and tools to bring the entire institution together around its people.

Media – Academic institutions are many times interested in advertising, publicizing, promoting, and marketing for them. In doing this, they are required to maintain and be in contact with various media-based service-providers who help them for this purpose. CRM plays an important role in maintaining and making new such productive, profitable, rewarding, and fruitful relationships, which benefit these organizations on short and long runs both.

Fortunately, emerging methodologies in research and marketing offer higher education institutions the ability to adapt and evolve by building an ongoing dialogue with students, admissions representatives, parents, employers and alumni. This dialogue serves as the process by which an educational brand is built and maintained. Using an effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution is vital for education establishments to deal more efficiently with the complex multi-level relationships they have to manage.

Online degrees have become a popular option for many people who are looking to further their education. Obtaining an education online can be beneficial for many different situations. However, as with any education option, there are pros and cons of online education. By properly educating yourself about the advantages and disadvantages of obtaining an online degree, you will be able to decide whether an online education is the right choice for you.

The biggest disadvantage of obtaining an online degree is the connotation that is still attached to online education by many. Some employers (especially those from older generations) do not completely understand online education or online degrees. To them, the only way to get a “real” education is by attending an actual four year high school or college. They may think that an online degree is just something that “you can print off the internet.” However, the problem can normally be avoided by following two simple steps. First, it is imperative that you choose an online education program which is accredited. If you fail to obtained an accredited online degree, then you are basically just wasting your time and money. By sticking to an accredited program, your current or potential employer will be able to look into the program of study that you followed and see that you obtained the proper educational requirements. The second easy step is being prepared to discuss and explain what an online education and online degree really are. By being well informed, you will have no problem explaining why you are just as qualified as someone who attended an actual Educational institution.

Although the disadvantages of online education are very few, there are some significant advantages to obtaining a degree on the internet. The first and foremost of these is freedom. An online degree gives you much more freedom than a traditional course of study. Online degrees can be obtained on your time, not someone else’s. With online education, you set your learning schedule. If you hate waking up in the morning, you never have to worry about being stuck in a class that starts at seven in the morning. Online education has gained so much popularity because of this fact. Individuals who, because of obligations such as work or school, are unable to follow a traditional course of study now have an opportunity to pursue the education or degree that they have always wanted. The freedom provided by online education is something that no one can put a price tag on.

Although the freedom provided by online education is the biggest advantage, it is not the only advantage online education has to offer. Life Experience Degrees provides many specialty areas of study that may not be offered by traditional educational institutions. Previously, people who were interested in these degrees were basically out of luck, but with the rise of online degree programs, people can obtain their dream degrees, even if they are very specific or rare degrees. Instead of moving across the country to one of the few schools which offers the degree you are interested in, you can do all of your learning and studying from the comfort of your home or a coffee shop.

The other major advantage presented by online education is its cost-effectiveness. With the rising prices of public and private universities, the more reasonable prices offered by online degree programs are very attractive prospects for many. Online degree programs are able to keep their costs low due to the fact that they don’t have to worry about many of the problems that traditional institutions face.

I’m 14 years old and in the 8th grade, it’s always been a goal of mine to have a career in Marine life and Animals.
I want to know what education do I need to work at a zoo or aquarium.

What kind of job do you want? It just depends. If you are just looking for a job during school, most likely you will need to apply for a volunteer position since you don’t even have a degree yet. When I had to do some volunteer work, I had to apply for their volunteer program and that included writing a short entry on why I am interested in working for the zoo, what are my hobbies, how do I plan to help, etc. And I had to do it a few weeks in advance, since it has to be reviewed and they get lots of them. Go look up what zoo you want to work for and get their application from them. Usually you can also let them know what time schedule works out best for you.

If you want to know about what kinds of degrees or programs you need for a certain feild, they all have their own requirements. Here are some of the areas of work you can get at a zoo: marketing/communications, Care Taker, Zookeeper, Mammal Keeper, Marine Animal Internships, Horticulture internships, vetrenarian, Diver Officer/Volunteer Diver Supervisor, HVAC Mechanic, Education Intern, Aquarist, Play Program Facilitator, Bird Programs, Animal Trainers, Medical Records/Animal Registrar.

There are a ton of jobs available at zoos since it takes so many people and programs to keep it running. A Zoo isn’t just a place to visit animals, there are many many things it does behind the scenes. Some places care for animals and send them back to their Homes, some breed, some places protect them, do research studies, and zoos also provide services for other organizations such as marine life research and tagging.

So all of these are jobs that you could do and each has their own education standards like Marine Biology for the aquarium jobs, Botany for the plant-life and Horticulture, Engineering for the technician jobs, Inter-Personal Communications for the marketing jobs, etc. First decide what job you want, then see what education that career requires.
