I would like to study 4 different types of photography in college. These are the four types:
-Baby Photography
-Black and White Photography
-Portrait Photography
-Landscape Photography
So what is the best kind of camera for these types of Photography? And don’t worry about the price.

I’d like to respectfully contradict the advice iCan offered about lens choice. The cameras are fine, but the 24-70mm fitted to a camera of this type does not offer wide angle. 24-70mm is a good focal length range on a full frame or 35mm film camera – wide to short telephoto. On a "crop" sensor camera like the Pentax K series, it is equivalent to 36-105mm which is too long for many tasks, though a good portrait choice.

Despite the shrinking place of film, many colleges still insist on training students on film, and including darkroom procedures. All 35 mm SLR and rangefinder cameras will do the range of tasks you referred to, but make sure the one you choose has full manual control – exposure,AND focus.

Big News Coming in the New Year will be a new product release by the creators of the Blueprint Series, Steven Clayton and Tim Godfrey. Many marketers are already aware of the fabulous Commission Blueprint 2.0 that came on in September and many are making money using this system

Another great new product by these guys called Niche Blueprint 2.0 is coming out to help all of us marketers who are doing or want to do ecommerce storefronts. Let me ask you will you be there for the release, I already have my sport inline and I recommend that you do as well. Happy New Year 2010 everyone!

Likewise, all DSLRs are capable of handling all these subjects and styles. There is a case for a medium format camera for landscape and portrait photography, and with lighter, faster medium format equipment coming onto the market at around the $10,000 mark with one lens included, these are an option for some people (you did say not to worry about price).

As a working pro earning a decent living from each of these areas of photography, I find that full-frame DSLRs cope perfectly well with all these challenges, and even the top-end crop-cameras are perfectly acceptable tools.

I’m sure that you’ve seen it before. One or more people posing together in front of a camera to make a heart shape or a star, or the very common pyramid. What is this kind of Photography called? I want to do a google search for these images for inspiration, but I’m not successful with my keywords, thus far.

Deus, no seƱor. But thanks for trying. Imagine five people standing together hand holding hands with ever person angling their arms to make a star. That’s a sample of what I’m talking about.

Like human silhouette ?

I’m an amateur photographer. As in, I don’t wish to take it up as a career, but I absolutely loooooooooooooove photography. The thing is, I need to buy a new camera for Photography, but I’m not sure which one to get. Someone help me out please.

I would go with a very basic camera that sets the standard for image quality.

I heartily recommend a Mamiya RZ67.

And if you have a little bit more money it is tough to beat the Hasselblad 500 C/M. Famous for it’s creamy, exquisite tonal graduation and juicy color rendition.

I’m 16 and I want to start my own little Photography company (I guess I can call it that?)
Some people around school want me to take their pictures, but I don’t know how much I should charge or do what.
I want to make some cash, because I don’t work, and I honestly don’t want to work at the mall or at some restaurant.

I have taken photography classes, I am good at it, but I have NO idea where to start at, please help me out here.

Check around in your area to see what other photographers are charging for what services they are offering.

Since you’ll likely be taking more casual shots of fellow students and not using a formal "studio", etc. just charge them a reduce value to those going rates by the pros.

Have fun ~ I ran a dark room for years and loved it.

I want to be a photography or a photojournalist. Really anything that lets me do the one thing I love. What are some good schools to go to? What has the best programs? Where did you go to school for photography? Did you major in photography? What did you minor in?

etc.
Thanks!

You have a lovely area. I am a fan of rural places and things. I left a couple of comments, and really liked the kitchen window shot. You are at the beginning of the learning curve, and your photos show that, but they are pleasant beginner shots. As you learn more your work will improve.

Pets and flowers make good subjects, both for beginners and more advanced shooters as well. So go ahead and practice on your beautiful dogs. One portrait tip for both people or animal shots is do not shoot down on them, Get on your dog’s level. Do not cut off ears tips or paws in a body shot. Learn to see good lighting, and utilize it in your photography. Take a class if possible, or join a local club or group for mentoring and feedback. Visit the library for books on the basics. Learn how exposure is formed by using ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Read and understand your camera manual to get the most from your gear. Look at good images in books and magazines, pay attention to the lighting and composition. Observe with a keen eye. When shooting, think about the light and what you are trying to show your viewer. Pay attention to your surroundings and backgrounds, and shoot to simplify and direct attention to your subject. Here are a couple of links for beginners:

Have fun with your new camera. (BTW, take care of it, always wear the strap so you won’t drop it. I hope you appreciate that not many 15 year olds have a Leica!) Continue to learn and practice. I will look forward to seeing you progress. Best wishes and happy shooting!

I need to write a research paper about the chemical reactions involved in photography, how they are used in Photography, and any environmental problems these reactions might cause. If you know anything about this, please tell me. Thanks!

There in one chapter in this book that may answer some of your questions:

My daughter would love to go to a Photography camp this summer. Does anybody have any suggestions? She can take beautiful pictures with our Nikon D60, but has never had any formal training.

It really depends on where you love.
In Los Angeles, there’s this school called FIDM.
It’s mainly a school for fashion, but they have other subjects like Photography, music, interior decorating ect.

They offer summer programs for high school kids; although, they are very expensive. Scholarships are given to students who demonstrate AMAZING skills.

I have a Kodak Z700 and it is not working great with taking photography pictures of my baby. I don’t know much about Photography, I am just getting into it. What features should I look for in a camera to do up close photography? Optical Zoom/megapixels, what should these be?! How do I know if a camera has a fast shutter speed? Thanks!

First I was going to suggest you fine one with a close focus of 3cm or less, but then I realized you were talking about shooting tight shots of your child. This will need a camera with a good 3x or better optical zoom lens.

Forget any mention of ditial zoom. It only uses part of the sensor, thus introducing lower resolution.

Pixel wise, get at least one with 7MP and any shutter spead of 1/000th of a second or faster will prevent any camera or subject movement for effecting your images.

The camera you have now should be able to take good shots of your childs face and other cute features. Just use the telephoto portion of your camera

In some Photography courses in Uni, you need to have a portfolio to be able to get into the uni.. but i havent done a photography portfolio before.
What does it need to include?
thanks.

A portfolio is simply a collection of your work.

A good portfolio has a wide range of pictures; such as landscape, fsshion, commercial, still life, etc…
